| “ | Nope, but if you all want to stick around, I am more than happy to let you. You know why I became this way? Because I didn't want to be weak. Sebastian poisoned me and I wasn't strong enough to save myself. But you, Nina are a selfish sister who doesn't even care about her own triplet. I was there for you when Henry died and I was there for you when everyone else didn't remember you and Hope. You cling to Hope and confide in her but Jax and I? You don't talk to your own triplets you just cling to Hope like she's special. I'm done being the weaker sibling, I'm done being the last thing you care about. I'm done being pushed around. | ” |

Dark Lily is the evil form of Lily Salvatore. She made her first appearance in You Can't Save Them All.
Throughout Legacies[]
Season Two[]
In You Can't Save Them All, Lily is more powerful than ever due to harnessing black magic from the Prison World. She and Josie revealed that the Prison World is made of magic, therefore can be siphoned in order to allow them a way out. It seemed that the dark magic left her body when she came out of the prison world, but is far from true.
In There's A Place Where The Lost Things Go, Lily participates in Emma's simulation; in the simulation, she and Josie are Lizzie's assistants.
It quickly becomes apparent that Lily is willing to take the blame for the murders to protect Lizzie, but she is eventually murdered herself by the unknown assailant. It is later revealed that Lily has been overcome by the darker version of herself, who first is ready to kill Hope once and for all within the simulation that she and Josie have taken control of. Hope helps Lizzie defeat her, however she does not awaken from the simulation. When she eventually does, she is trapped within the werewolf transition space, but escapes confidently by blowing a hole in the roof and setting a large portion of the school on fire; this is presumably fixed by the students afterwards.
In Life Was So Much Easier When I Only Cared About Myself, she returns to the Salvatore School to plan her birthday party.
Hope and Lizzie later talk but are interrupted by her, who reveals that Josie and Lizzie will Merge later that night; if Lizzie does not show, she will begin killing those closest to her. Hope and Lizzie formulate a plan to deal with her. Alex helped place Jax, Nina, Adella, Violet, and Luna within Lily's subconscious when she was asleep in a bid to find the real Lily.
In Facing Darkness is Kinda My Thing, while inside Lily's subconscious, Jax, Nina, Adella, Violet, and Luna is told (by Stefan) that there is no where to run and that the darkness (Dark Lily) will find them anywhere. Stefan helps them find the memories to bring the good Lily out and try to understand what caused her to go dark in the first place. They find the key that unlocks the good in her which is the necklace that belonged to the Original Witch.
After a brief conversation with her siblings and friends, the darkness attacks Lily. Lily cowers in a corner, but soon realizes that she can beat the darkness if she fights. She tells the darkness that she was afraid of being powerful because it meant hurting people, but now she realizes she can be powerful and not hurt people. Lily takes on the darkness head-on and is able to subdue her, before receiving warnings that she will always return. Meanwhile, Lizzie and Adella extracts the darkness from both Josie and Lily and transfers it into the Necromancer to honor his deal with Alaric.
Season Three[]
In You Can't Run From Who You Are, Dark Lily appears as a hallucination from Lily's subconscious. She tells Lily that she's been hiding inside her, waiting for the perfect time to escape. She laughs at Lily and tells her if she doesn't want to talk all she had to do was drop the prism. Eventually Dark Lily and Lily have a chat.
