Nina disliked him, having a very bad feeling whenever he was around. Her gut instincts were right when he kidnapped her mother and then played a huge part in her death. Their relationship turned from acquaintance to enemy and he tried to make it up to her.

Season One[]
In I'll Tell You a Story, Nina is leaving her dorm when she sees Roman talking with some vampires. She gives him a small smile, waving before she walks away. Later that day, she asks Roman to keep an eye on Rafael who is still suffering from Lunar Psychosis. Nina was crying on a bench finding out about the Merge and Roman talks with her and calms her down. Roman helps Hope and Nina using his vamp-hearing on the voicemail Landon sent and tells them what he hears. She says her goodbyes and then gives him a kiss on the cheek.
Season Three[]
Their relationship turns into a friendship when they start hanging out more and more. They went out shopping and he paid for her clothes and then he confessed that he actually had a crush on her for quite sometime. She tells him that she's with someone else. Roman didn't take it farther and told her that he'd still like to be friends with her, to which she agreed.
They are referred to as "Rina" by fans.
