Zurina Gabriel Mendez (née Delgado) is a witch and a recurring guest star in season four of Legacies. She is a teacher at the Salvatore School and sometimes she's a counselor.
Early Life[]
Zurina was born to an unknown father and April Delgado on November 24, 1999 in Westchester, New York. When she turned five, her and her mother moved to Middletown, Connecticut due to a rival coven threatening to expose their secret. At the age of seven Zurina began experiencing witchcraft. She was pulled out of school for lighting a classmates hair on fire. Her mom began to homeschool and teach her about magic.
When Zurina turned 15 she became curious about other witches. She used an app to find other friends who where witches. Zurina matches with a guy named Marco. She was excited to finally meet another witch her age. Zurina met up with him and she find herself an a hostage situation. Marco takes her back to a secluded place and forces her to do black magic.
Zurina eventually gets addicted to black magic and falls in love with 20 year-old Marco. She runs away with Marco to Puerto Rico. Her mother is worried sick, trying to find Zurina to bring her back home. Three years later Zurina decided to return home after she found out Marco was cheating on her.
Zurina told her mother she was kidnaped by a male witch, and was finally able to escape. In 2020 she meets her now husband, Freddy Mendez. They had met at a bar, had a discussion about teaching and he helped her go back to school so she could become a teacher.
Zurina get her teaching license and began to teach at the same school as him. They began dating after Freddy confesses his feelings for her. During their first date, Freddy tells Zurina that he knows that she's a witch. Zurina asked how he knew he explained that he's studied on witches before. Three years later, Freddy and Zurina got married and had a big fall wedding.
In 2030, one of Zurina's students is a witch who's in foster care. She felt really bad and starts doing research to help find them a school to go to. Zurina finally finds the Salvatore School and offers to drive that student their to find a home. During that time she finds out there's more than just witches in the world. Zurina arrives to the school where she meets the tribrid-doppelgänger, Alexandria Gilbert.
Alex explains what the school is all about and that she'll take really good care of the student who is now known as Fiona. Zurina couldn't believe what Alex and her friends has done to grow the school and asked if she would need help at the school from time to time. Alex agreed that Zurina could help when she can and also explained more about the supernatural world.
